Helen Manente, Gravesend, Kent

Helen Manente

I am a flute and piccolo player, and graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2005, having completed my MMus, PgDip and BMus(Hons) under the tuition of Graham Mayger, flute, and Stewart McIlwham, piccolo.

Since leaving the RCM, I have gained experience as a freelance musician, both as a performer and as an educator. I love playing as an orchestral and chamber musician, and my jobs have taken me all around the UK, Europe and as far as India.

I am passionate about music education! Having been lucky enough to have had an excellent (and free…) musical education when I was young, it has always been an important part of my career to pass that love and appreciation of music on. I was fortunate during my time at the RCM to have been able to work with some of the UK’s leading orchestras on various education projects, such as the Philharmonia Orchestra’s Elastic Band Scheme, the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Playerlink Scheme and projects with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. These experiences taught me that music can and should be available and accessible to all.

I am so excited to be bringing Blackbird Early Years Music Classes to Kent, and helping to develop the next generation of musicians!
